Myeokseori, or straw container, is a tool used to contain and store crops, and was densely woven with straw. Its size was irregular. Some were relatively small and could contain only four to five mal (1 mal = 18 ℓ), while others were large enough to accommodate four to five gama (straw bag used as a unit of measurement, 1 gama = 75 to 90 kg). Smaller ones were used to transport grains. Its structure and shape resembles myeokdunggumi, or round straw container, although a round straw container has a round base while a myeokseori has a rectangular bottom, and a round straw container is comparatively smaller than a rectangular container. Some myeokseori were made with a round bottom, but they were generally larger than round containers, because round straw containers were generally used to carry grains while myeokseori were mostly used for storage.
