These colorful printed toys represented the beginning of what Harrison/Erickson, Inc. hoped would become a whole menagerie. Bonnie Erickson noted, I loved making simplified shapes of animals_. I wanted to create water color type textures for each animal. Erickson's initial approach meant that each animal would require color matching and a registration, which would result in significant production costs. As a cost effective alternative, Harrison/Erickson, Inc. made and copyrighted prototypes in commercially available repeat patterned fabrics. They made an initial presentation for the line, but licensees proved primarily interested in toy lines based on TV characters. Harrison/Erickson, Inc. put the project on hold to pursue the development of sports mascots and to oversee the build for the TV series Fraggle Rock.
