In its early years, Gund produced plush figures that could walk. A 1915 patent for a wind-up mechanism powered strolling horses, dogs, cats, and more. The company continued making mechanical toys for many years, adding musical boxes and melodies to several plush figures and animals. This toy poodle ifeatures springs in its legs designed so that when the dog is pulled forward, it walks.
