Stunt riders riding a Harley Davidson in 1925.
As motorcycle technology improved in the 1910s and 1920s, people began to experiment with doing more than commuting and racing with motorcycles. With the heavy use of motorcycle despatch riders in the First World War, many young people returned home as skilled riders and began to experiment with stunt riding, which soon became a popular spectacle for crowds. The 'Wall of Death' was an internationally famous stunt in which riders circled around the vertical walls of a wooden cylinder.
