A suffragette demonstrating in Whitehall, c. 1908. On the reverse of the photograph has been written 'personally conducted or is it a mild flirtation'. The arrow at the top of the placard indicates that this suffragette had been to prison for her involvement in the campaign. To avoid being arrested for obstruction she walks in the road and not on the pavement.
