The Philips ‘Compact’ gramophone is a two-piece portable record player. The lid contains an amplifier and speaker, and the base is the record player. It has a 17-centimetre turntable with two speeds – 33 and 45 rpm – and is powered by a DC motor via two rubber belts and two selectable pulleys.
