“I was moved by the deeply romantic tone of Dutilleux’s symphony. It has an atmosphere that we can all relate to. The feeling of having lost something. The feeling of having experienced something amazing, wishing you could capture it, like an image of a landscape. That’s the mood for both the ballet and the title 'Summer’s End'; the feeling of nostalgia at the end of a beautiful summer. And when I say “summer” I don’t specifically mean the season, it could also symbolize a phase of life. The essence of romance is in the unavoidable nostalgia: we constantly crave something but when we finally touch it, it seems to have disappeared.” – Glen Tetley
