井田照一 Shoichi Ida (1941~2006)
A native of Kyoto. Ida began his career as an artist producing pop art-style prints but, from the mid-1970s, while advocating the concept ‘Surface is the Between,’ created works in various forms including oil painting, paper work, ceramics, and bronze, but centering on print. He won a prize at the 10th Tokyo International Print Biennale in 1976, among the many prizes he has won in Japan and abroad.
