Sister Nivedita relates that while in Kashmir, one morning “when they woke up, they found themselves in the midst of the beautiful valley, surrounded by the snow-peaks of the Himalayas on the horizon. They took a long walk in the morning across fields and came to a huge chenar tree in the middle of a pasture. The tree provided ample shade and the Swami fantasized on how it could be used as a dwelling-place for a hermit. Then he talked about the subject to which he always seemed to gravitate: meditation.” 21 ❊ ❊ ❊ You do not now understand. But you have made the pilgrimage, and it will go on working. Causes must bring their effects. You will understand better afterwards. The effects will come. (NSW, 124)
