It is regarded as the sword guard created by Rakuju, the 3rd of the Kamiyoshi school, based on the style of the work. This square-shaped iron piece has an open-work design resembling dried trepangs. The chisel marks around the Nakago core hole is the inscription of Rakuju’s work.
