These are five examples of swords: a sabre, three epées and a flamberge. The sabre bears the inscriptions: "Dedicated with gratitude by the Co-rector of Toledo" and "Toledo. 1804". It therefore appears to have been a typical gift offered in return for a favour.

The rest are from the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries. Two were made in Toledo and the other two in Solingen (Germany). Historically, both towns were renowned for the manufacture of high-quality swords. Both the blades and above all the hilt show the diversity and wealth of the models used.

Some of these pieces come from a bequest from the collector and fencing master Aquiles Broutin, born in France, which he left to the San Telmo Museum in 1921.
