Two fish, Sahasrabuddhi and Satabuddhi, lived in a lake. Ekabuddhi, the frog, was their friend. They met every day on the bank of the lake and discussed everything under the sun. They went home at sunset. One day, they saw some fishermen walk past carrying nets. The fishermen remarked that the lake was full of good fish and they should come early morning to catch some. Having overheard their conversation the fish were mortified. The frog asked Satabuddhi for advice. “O Satabuddhi, you have heard what the fishermen are planning. Tell us what we should do. Should we stay here or go somewhere else?”Sahasrabuddhi answered the question, “Don’t worry. You should not be scared by words. The learned have said “The world is still safe because the dreams of snakes and wicked men never come true.” The fishermen may not even come tomorrow. If they come, I am here to save you.” Satabuddhi said, “You are very wise. There is nothing that accomplished men cannot conquer.” But Ekabuddhi, the frog, said, “Friends, I do not agree. My advice is that we all escape. I think that is only option we have now. So, my wife and I will leave this place tonight.” The next day the fishermen came and netted the lot of fish, frogs, crabs, turtles, including Satabuddhi and Sahasrabuddhi, killing all of them. One fisherman carried Satabuddhi on his head because he was heavy and slung Sahasrabuddhi to his arm because he was long. Ekabuddhi watched from afar with his wife. He said, “Didn’t I warn what the fishermen would do? Now look at the plight of Satabuddhi and Sahasrabuddhi.
