These are reifu (talismans) of Shingon Esoteric Buddhism. There are twenty-one talismans of gods of heaven and earth collected from all over Japan. It is unknown how they came to the Tachibana family, but they were stored in a wooden box, together with other talismans owned by the 2nd head of the family, Muneshige. The year written on the wrapping paper for the talismans which translates ‘1639’. It was when Muneshige was seventy-three years old.
