Grows as a semi-evergreen tree with large, alternately arranged and pinnately compound leaves. It may reach to a height of 10m to 20m. Flowers are pale yellow and streaked with red. When tree is in full bloom, the flowers give a yellowish colour to the tree. Fruits are thick. Rough pods are 4cm to 13cm long and usually curved. Use: Fruits are edible and make a laxative drink. Borana use leaves as salt for livestock.
