Part of Huang Tse-hsiu's ?"Ripples on the Tamsui River"? series, the photo was probably taken in the 1960s. The composition is simple: two sampans are afloat on the broad surface of the Tamsui River's lower reaches, the boatmen rowing slowly homeward at dusk.?The dazzling rays of the evening sun are reflected on the water, rendering the river's surface a brilliant white, silhouetting the two boats. The work reveals the poetic beauty in common laborers' everyday lives.
