TAN+EMOTION presents a new genre of Pop music with fresh tones that constitutes a natural harmony between musical instruments of Gugak (Korean Traditional Music) and their Western counterparts. In the unconstrained melodies that transcend the boundaries between Pansori and Jazz, you will notice TAN+EMOTION’s own distinctive features, feeling as if the music is taking you to the Sahara Desert at one moment and to Jeju Island to another. TAN+EMOTION’s repertoire includes: <for four>, which incorporates the sound of Scat singing in Jazz with Pansori adding the tunes of Irish whistle and accordion; <naeryeonda (descending)>, <pado (tidal waves)>, <tanda, ta (let‘s get playing)>, <bujeongpul-ee (exorcism)>, the series inspired by ‘Goot’—the essence of the Korean shamanism. Invited to diverse venues including Ulsan World Music Festival, Jeonju International Sori Festival, and Seoul Jazz Festival, TAN+EMOTION proved its unique beauty that can naturally harmonize with any sort of genre, pioneering a new genre of contemporary music based on Gugak.
