A landscape that reproduces the capture of a brief record, as if it was marking a moment of wanders through the parish of Tancos, in Vila Nova da Barquinha, Santarém. It is a momentary lapse, without obvious signs of humanization and integrated in the Portuguese naturalist school. In a recreation made from loose and imprecise spots, the greens of the vegetation and trees are dotted with different shades of brown, imparting body to the trunks and branches of the trees, to the undergrowth, accentuating the path that divides the landscaped green and the ground which dominates the first plane of the composition.
Overlapping the horizon line, the trees are trimmed in the cloudy sky of lilac tonality, progressing to the darkened blue, remembering a late afternoon or early morning. A tree with thin trunks and branches intersects with the landscape and extends to the limit of the representation of the sky, with loose and rapid brushstrokes, forming a scattered foliage, overlapping the figurative field as if it were a curtain that, dividing, guarantees and accentuates, the unity of composition plans.
