This tea caddy bears an inscription "Ninsei" on its bottom, which proposes that this piece was made by Nonomura Ninsei, the potter of Kyoto-style ceramics in the early Edo period (17th century). The crosshatch pattern is engraved around the unglazed body. Only the inner surface is coated with glaze. It has a cutting mark by thread on the bottom.
