Porcelain cup and saucer carried by 10 year old Ina Felczer on the Kindertransport [Children's Transport] in 1939, when she escaped Germany for the United Kingdom. Before the war, Ina lived in Berlin with her parents, Victor and Hanna, Polish Jews who had lived in Berlin for over a decade. In 1938, her father was deported to Poland. Her mother arranged for Ina to escape on the Kindertransport. Three days later, her mother was arrested and deported to Poland. Both of Ina's parents perished in the Holocaust. Ina lived in England during the war. In 1945, she was able to emigrate to the United States and to join her aunt in New Jersey.

  • Medium: a. White, embossed, bell-shaped, porcelain teacup with an elongated, stylized c-shaped handle with gold trim. It has painted blue and pink flowers on the interior and exterior and a thin blue border on the edge of the lip. There is a pressed mold scallop design below the lip. The foot is scalloped on the edge and there is a maker's mark stamped on the bottom. b. White, circular, porcelain saucer with slightly flared sides, scalloped edges, and a blue painted rim. The interior alternates embossed scallop design with painted blue and pink flowers, with blue trim line beneath the flower band.
