The televisor, built in the workshop of the Scottish television pioneer John Logie Baird, was the first commercially available television receiver in the world. About 4000 units were manufactured. A radio receiver was still needed to pick up the signal. The image was reproduced mechanically by means of a Nipkow disk with 30 circular holes in front of a neon lamp. The image was magnified by a lens to about the size of a postcard, and had a repetition rate of only 12.5 frames per second.
