Low Kway Song made portraits of Sun Yat-sen, Malaysia’s first prime minister Tunku Abdul Rahman, business tycoon Aw Boon Haw, and Peranakans such as Tan Beng Swee and Tan Cheng Lock.

He was reportedly the first Singapore artist to receive a four-figure sum for a commission, the portrait of Oei Tiong Ham in 1927.
