" 'Terrarium' was the third in a series of quilts inspired by Russian Folk art, particularly its border designs. The terrarium itself superimposes appliqué on the background fabrics that inspired it. I've always been intrigued by the patterns made by shadows against my backyard fences, as well as interested in natural cycles. This quilt shows both day and dusk at once and it reflects one of my favorite themes - flowers."
