They killed the gendarme who was standing guard, and took control of the entrance. They thus killed the gendarmerie lieutenant Mehmed Agha, sergeant Hasan, private İsmail and a Greek by the name of Tanaş and wounded corporal Salih, two gendarmes, five policemen, two Greeks, two Jews and many Muslims who were there for business. Until the evening, a number of wrongdoers located at the bank itself, or hidden in some of the houses neighbouring the Ottoman Bank and inhabited by foreigners continued to throw bombs and shoot at the Imperial troops and at passersby Thirteen of the chiefs of the brigands who had taken refuge at the bank were taken out alive, and others, either wounded or dead. Apart from the used ones, some sixty bombs were found in the bank building. As a result of the brigands' assault, two foreigners from among the bank's accounting employees, namely two Frenchmen by the names of Monsieur Georges and Monsieur Alfred started crying for help from a window, a gendarme threw a rope at them which they used to escape, but they were wounded by the Armenian bandits. Both were immediately rescued by the Imperial troops and were sent to the police station, and from there to the Police Department
