Silver icon, embossed with the representation of the Annunciation. The elaborate floral ornament on the frame encloses six circular panels, which would have contained enamel or silver medallions. Busts of apostles are depicted on the long sides. Byzantine sources attest to the existence of numerous silver icons but only a few have survived. Constantinopolitan workshop (?), 12th c. Acquired in memory of Georgios Koniaris (ΓΕ 36272)
