The Areinho - Porto

A river landscape. On the riverbank stands a small hill covered in trees and a house. On the shore there is a standing figure and on the water two boats carrying local folks are floating. The beach, where several people and boats are depicted, is little more than a natural extension of the hill.
This landscape by Marques de Oliveira is part of a set of paintings through which he was able to capture different aspects of the distinctive nature of northern Portugal.
