Pat and Sue made this quilt to celebrate their memories of the Beatles, whose songs filled their teen-age years. Both love traditional quilts, consequently the layout of "The Beatles Quilt" was inspired by an antique folk art quilt with a Tree of Life in the center. The four album blocks surrounding the tree represent each of the four Beatles, with hands and guitar symbols surrounding their names and birth dates. In the blocks surrounding the large center, the sisters divided the Beatles albums, each designing blocks with visual images suggested by the song lyrics. The quilt is filled with tidbits they discovered as they listened to the words of the songs that touched them and many others of their generation.
