The Chief Guest

Shyamal Dutta Ray was an accomplished watercolourist and one of the founding members of the Society of Contemporary Artists in Calcutta.

His paintings explore the complex visual world around him. The decaying splendour of old homes and the contradictions that he witnessed in a rapidly changing city is reflected in his paintings.
