The Church Of Santa Maria Delle Scale

The original layout was presumably built by the Cistercian monks of the abbey of Santa Maria di Roccadia di Lentini in the first half of the 13th century on the traces of a previous rock oratory; it was originally a construction intended to house the hospice of the Cateratte, begun in the Norman period and rebuilt by the Chiaramonte family and then rebuilt after the 1693's earthquake.
