Isabey was invited by Minister Talleyrand to follow the French delegation to the Congress of Vienna to draw a group portrait of him at the Paris Salon of 1817; Godefroy drew the present engraving gounding on Isabey's sketches, many of which are kept in the Louvre, but he didn't find support in France.
