The Coronation of the Virgin

Primitive Aragon School (15th century)2011

Castle of Villandry

Castle of Villandry
VILLANDRY, France

In this representation, the robes of the Son and the Virgin Mary, representing Humanity, are mingled. But the adoration of the Virgin seems to be concentrated on the Father. However, the three figures of the Trinity, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, fill approximately the same amount of space to show the balance between the three personages. This painting represents the new Alliance, as shown by the rainbow.
