The Cycle

Norwegian street and stencil artist Martin Whatson is best known for his colourful take on graffiti motifs, portraying monochrome stencilled figures interacting with extravagant swatches of multicoloured graffiti imagery.

For this mural in Stavanger, the artist revisits familiar imagery by playing with the graffiti cycle of life — painting and being painted over. The central part of the wall is covered in the artist's typically colourful abstract graffiti, while the edges of the wall show two figures painting over the graffiti with white paint.
