Hallwyl House has two lifts, one for food and one for people. Both were installed by the firm Graham Brothers in 1896. The food lift, also called a dumbwaiter, can hold 50 Kg. The sign to the right of the lift states that it is not approved for people, although family legend has it that one of the grandchildren used it at times. The other lift was seldome used by anyone, mainly because the mistress of the house said that it only encouraged lazyness and obesity.
