The First Articles in the Civil Guard Booklet

The Civil Guard Booklet (Cartilla de la Guardia Civil) was created by the corps’ founder, the 2nd Duke of Ahumada, in 1844. It summarized everything that a member of the Civil Guard needed to know in order to serve. It covers values, behaviors, duties, and more in 35 simple articles, describing the essence of the Civil Guard in such a way that many of them are still applied today.
