The painting depicts one of the most beautiful parks in Moscow - the forest at Sparrow hills (Vorobyevy Gory) - the steep right bank of the Moskva River in the south-west of the capital. There is a building of the Moscow State University, where all year Muscovites walk - on the observation deck, the wild eco-trail or on the waterfront, one of the most beautiful in the city. It’s a landscape Moscow artist Vadim Dementyev’s mature period. The artist revisits an old European technique based on refined glazing paint with gradual stage-by-stage application of semi-transparent layers. This helps to create a particularly profound color and smooth texture.
Dementiev’s painting is airy, timid and associative. This painting, like many of his other works, is filled with an almost magical light and is mesmerizing with its filigree pattern. Accurate depiction is combined with the emotional perception of a place, which the artist considers to be significant for himself.
