Illustrations from the paper 'On the Fossil Flora of Bovey Tracy' (Fig. 12) written by Heer Oswald, professor of Botany and Director of the Botanical Gardens in Zurich and presented by Sir. Charles Lyell FRS, the notorious author Principles of Geology. The resulting article was published in the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society the following year. The document relates to Oswald's findings in the town of Bovey Tracy, Devon, South England where he discovered ca. 50 species of fossilized plants embedded in the valley's stratigraphy.
