The garden of Vinyet

"When Rusiñol arrived in Sitges in late 1891, he discovered a world of new sensations; the sun heat, streets and courtyards of the houses and, above all, the noble and generous feeling of friendship offered by their citizens.

One of the works that shows this Rusiñol’s interest to capture the Mediterranean light is this corner, where the artist represents, in foreground, the garden of the guards of the shrine of Vinyet of Sitges.

It is worth to pay attention to the baptismal font of the fourteen century that Rusiñol incorporated into the Cau Ferrat and that is currently in the middle of one of the museum halls.

Again, Rusiñol captivates by the way he expresses the light of Sitges."
