The geum is a seven stringed instrument arranged in Confucian shrine ritual music. The strings are hooked over the front plate, which is made of paulownia wood. There are no moveable bridges nor frets. Instead, thirteen small circlets are inlaid with white seashell to mark where to place the fingers.
