The burning process takes place outside the village, usually in one of the women's planting area. Before proceeding to the burning, a moquém is set – a structure employed to smoke meat and fish and also used, as in this case, to heat the pottery before putting them into the fire. In this picture's foreground, we can see Carolina Campos from the back.
