The abundant water source for the bobbin mill is here, at High Dam. It provided water exclusively to Stott Park, and its size gives a good idea of how much would be required for a modest-sized mill. It is reached by a steep path off the road to Finstwaite village, and it would have been a daily task for one of the mill’s boys to make the trip up to High Dam to open the sluice in the morning and to close it at the end of the day.
