This landscape with a view of the Leningrad Seaport located on the west bank of Vasilyevsky Island, was executed in an impressionistic style. Pyotr Korostelyov avoids unnecessary detail, yet is very precise in outlining some stylistic peculiarities that recreate the atmosphere of the 1960s. Korostelyov’s brushwork
recalls masters such as Petrov-Vodkin and artists of the Circle of Artists society. He was also influenced by the philosophy of The Jack of Diamonds group. Korostelyov’s individual style is the culmination of these trends, combining the accuracy of the drawing and realistic portrayal of objects with light colors which give his paintings a strongly ornamented feel.
