Museo Dolores Olmedo

In this self-portrait Frida for the first time eludes the viewer, looking through the eyeholes of a mask that allows her to conceal her pain. It is not she who weeps, but the object, which has a face completely different from hers. As always, she refuses to display her suffering, although the painting allows us to guess the depth of her despair, which verges on madness, as the title of the painting suggests.
