It's remarkable the attention to detail and to the historical reconstruction of the clothing and the environment in which the depicted scene took place, of crucial importance for Parma: the Pope and the Emperor agreed on the creation of the Farnese duchy, entrusted in the consistory of the 27th August 1545 to Pierluigi, son of the Pope and great gonfalonier of the Church. Therefore, it's not a coincidence that Maria Luigia commissioned this image together with the one, never made, of her entry into Parma, which took place in 1816.
