Félix Lafuente Tobeñas (Huesca, 1865–1927) was a stage designer, illustrator, and painter who was much loved in his native city and province of Huesca. Between 1893 and 1905, he was an interim teacher of drawing at the Institute of Secondary Education (Instituto de Segunda Enseñanza) located in what is now the Huesca Museum. His 1986 canvas of its landscaped courtyard is a useful record for exploring the institution's history. Lafuente's 12 years of teaching in Huesca coincided with his most productive period for landscape paintings. The city's surrounding areas, the foothills of the Pyrenees mountains, and recesses of the capital of Alto Aragon itself became the usual subjects of his drawings, oil paintings, and watercolors.
