This slide by William Weaver Baker shows a dog with a political sign attached to it, standing between two boys. The dog is probably a St. Bernard, recognisable by its extra large size. Its coat is likely to have been brown and white, with darker fur on its head. The sign attached to the dog reads ‘Vote for Crawley’. The lack of information recorded on the slide makes the date and location of this scene unknown. It possibly relates to Baron Frederick Crawley who was MP for Prestwich from the late nineteenth century until 1918. The boy on the right also has a sign resting on the brim of his hat. This image seems to be a ‘snapshot’: the image is not well framed and the top of one of the boy’s heads is cut off.
