Transposed into stone in 1937 to be attached to the front door of San Benedetto’s Church in Pomezia, this bronze frieze represents the preparation study to the final monumental stone high-relief. It represent synchronically some episodes from saint Benedict’s life starting from the creation of his monastic order. In one of these scenes it’s possible to spot Saint Placido, the one who made the church’s project, with the original drawings in his hand. The accentuated horizontal development of the work softens the plasticism of the monks, all of them present similar height and physical shape and tunic.
