Artist Fu-Jing Yang combines the concepts of hairstyle trends and volcanic lava through mixed media artwork, creating an eruption of different hairstyles with transparent film sheets.
The Remaining Body Series reflects on how we are affected by trends. We emulate what we see in magazines and on screen, and people can easily pick a different style for every single day. Yang creates a specimen of sorts in order to show that mass production and constant change is just like a volcano’s unpredictable nature. As people chase after such tempting and colorful trends, it is easy to forget that accepting themselves and their bodies is perhaps the most important pursuit of all.
