The Royal Botanic Gardens, better known as Kew Gardens, is a World Heritage Site. Created from two royal estates that were given to the nation in 1841, the Gardens are now home to tens of thousands of types of plants from all over the world and a collection of millions of dried specimens. Tree-lined avenues and winding paths give views to the River Thames and lead visitors to impressive historic garden buildings and follies.
