Artists Yoshikawa Kimiya and Tsai Hsiao-Chi graduated from the Royal College of Art, with a MA in Textiles and Sculpture respectively. They often team up to transform ordinary day-to-day objects into fun, three-dimensional creations using special and almost magical methods.
In The Secret Garden they use boldly colored objects and finely cut shapes to create an incredible, larger-than-life flower that is the instant focus of the exhibition. Taking advantage of the unique exhibition setting, the artists fill up the spaces between the beams and columns in the tobacco factory with distinctive balloon sculptures.
The flamboyant piece leaves viewers a strong visual impact, resembling a mysterious creature slumbering inside an antiquated building, and is awakened by incoming visitors. Viewers are encouraged to imagine their way to the fantasyland that is uniquely their own
