The Sixth Vessel: The Desiccation of the Euphrates

Unknownabout 1255–1260

Los Angeles, United States

The sixth angel poured out its vessel upon that great river Euphrates and dried up the water of it, so that a way might be prepared for the kings from the rising of the sun.(Apocalypse 16:12)

As Saint John looks on sadly from a hilltop, the angel, with its great wings swept up behind, empties the vessel. The vessel's contents seem to dry up the water of the Euphrates where they fall.
