Travel a little past the station at Mitsuke, and arrive at the Tenryu River boat landing. This is the midway point on the Tokaido Highway. Its source is Lake Suwa in Shinano Province, and the river traverses mountain ravines before pouring into the sea at Enshunada. In the vicinity of the highway the river broadens, splitting into two currents which surround an islet on two sides, the east one called the Great Tenryu, the west one called the Lesser Tenryu.
